What is faith?

Faith can often seem like something that’s vague and intangible. You can’t see it or touch it. This is why it can be hard to believe in it and even harder to live by it.
Let’s define faith.
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
Two words describe faith: confidence and assurance. The beginning point of faith is believing in God’s character – He is who He says – loving, just and faithful. The end point is believing God’s promises – He will do what he says for that’s who He is. Faith is when we believe that God will fulfill His promises even when we don’t see it materializing yet.
Our God is the God who called the universe into existence out of nothing. He declared what it was to be and it was.
The Bible is filled with characters who put faith into action and received God’s promise
By faith Noah built an ark in the middle of the desert and saved his entire family.
By faith Abraham left his hometown at an old age to seek the promised land and his descendants were able to find and live in it.
By faith Sarah, who was past childbearing age, conceived and from this child came descendants as numerous as the sand.
By faith Abraham offered Isaac, his only son, as a sacrifice to God.
By faith the walls of Jericho fell after the Israelite army marched around it seven times.
By faith Moses parted the Red Sea and lead the people out of Egypt.
All these people were living by faith when they died. And because of their faith, they were able to conquer kingdoms, administer justice and gain what was promised.
For without faith it is impossible to please God. For anyone who comes to Him must believe He exists and He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.
Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, “Move” and it will move.
When I became a Christian, I decided to surrender everything to him all my dreams, worries and fears. Doing so has enabled me to live a richer and more peaceful life. It’s not that I no longer have problems for they will always be a part of life. But when you trust God with all your heart, you know that no matter what happens, no matter what your circumstance is now, you’ll be ok.
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future
Being faithful is a journey. There are times that I still struggle with it in some areas of my life. But I have made a commitment to seek Him first. To turn to Him in times of trouble. To be faithful even when it gets hard. Being faithful is a choice that needs to be renewed everyday.
