The One Thing I’m Most Grateful for in 2017

Looking back at the past year, there are so many things that I’m grateful for. So many blessings that I thank the Lord for. My mom came home after years of living in the US, the wedding of Alec (my brother) and Anj, our family reunion, Jong’s marriage proposal, we put up our 2nd branch of Gamers Enclave, our growing Truly Wealthy Team, our expanded Truly Wealthy office (we now take up an entire floor)… And the list goes on.

alec 2

And yet, if there’s one thing I thank the Lord for most in 2017, it was my mom’s total acceptance of Christ as her Lord and Savior. You see, although we come from a Catholic background and we knew of Jesus. We didn’t really “know” him. Not in the real sense of the word. My mom is a worrier. She worries about all sorts of things – even things that she doesn’t really even need to worry about. And because of that she gets stressed out.

Being a Christian is not about religion. It simply means that you are a follower of Christ. Being a Christian means trusting Him fully and surrendering everything in you – all your worries and fears – to Him.

And so I stared to pray that my mom would fully surrender her life to Christ and join a Discipleship group. Being part of a D-Group would allow her to have a spiritual family to grow with and be accountable to.

When she came back home in Iligan, I tried to encourage her to join a D Group at CCF but she was resistant at first, saying that she wasn’t ready and that I shouldn’t “force” her. It’s ironic, but it’s often easier to invite other people to join a bible study group. So I stopped encouraging her but continued to pray about it instead. Then one day, during church service, we met Tita Susan. She was very friendly and after finding out that mom didn’t have a D Group yet, she asked for her number and continuously texted and called her. After months of non-stop texting/calling, my mom finally relented and agreed to have coffee with her. And the rest is history.

wmbiblestudyPhoto from

Now my mom regularly attends her discipleship group meetings once a week. We actually have the same Dgroup schedule which is every Thursday. She also started doing daily quiet time. I can see how she has grown spiritually. She doesn’t get worried as much anymore and is now more dependent on God for guidance and strength.

When you truly know the Lord, you really don’t need to worry about anything. Your future is in his hands and he has promised to take care of it. The bible has so many promises that you can hold on to.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition and thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
-Philippians 4:6-7

I have acknowledged that Christ is the source of everything and He is all that I need. Everything else is just a bonus.

May you live a Truly Wealthy life.

Love & Dating Series Session 1: Love & the Right Person Myth

love and dating series + ccf 5

It was a full house tonight as we launched Session 1 of the Love & Dating Series: The Right Person Myth. Our speaker for the first Session was Mr. Mel Santos – an educator and entrepreneur who actively serves Christ’s Commission Fellowship CDO alongside with his lovely wife.

love and dating series + ccf 2

Single men and women tend to have 2 main priorities – career and love life. Just ask single people you know and they’ll answer with either one or the other – if not both. According to Eden Ahbez, the greatest thing you’ll ever learn is to love and be loved in return. To be in love is such a glorious and wonderful feeling. And this is why so many singles flit like butterflies from one person to the next in their search for the “right person.” But as our speaker so eloquently said, there is no such thing as the “right person”. Because it takes two people – not one – the make a relationship work.

So if there is no right person – what then should we do? Should we despair of finding our happily ever after? Should we stop searching before we even begin?

The answer lies within us. Instead of continuously searching for the right person – Be The Right Person. Be the person you yourself would like to marry.

Think about it. Would you marry, you?

How then can we be the right person? In order to achieve a goal, we should have a model. Someone to look up to and follow. In order to be the right person, we should let the right person in. That person is Jesus Christ.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
– John 3:16

love and dating series + ccfThere maybe tons of saints and heroes in the world – but there is no better model of love than Jesus Christ. He lived and died for you and me so our sins could be forgiven. The greatest thing you can give to others is your life. Nothing can top that.

Choosing to say yes to God was the best decision I ever made. Letting Christ in my life has made my life better in every way. He has completed the emptiness within me. He makes me want to be better, more kind, more patient, generous and loving. The more I focus on him, the more I grow to become the “right person”. Not perfect – but a little better each day. And as long as I’m better than I was the day before, that’s enough for me. A little progress everyday is better than no progress at all.

So how should we love?

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres

-1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Haven’t you ever wondered what comes after “and they lived happily ever after”?

To love someone unconditionally is no mean feat. Because that person, like you, is imperfect and flawed. So singles, don’t be in such a rush to get married. Enjoy this season in your lives. Focus on becoming the right person – the person you would like to marry. So that when you meet  “the one” , you’re ready.

Go live a Truly Wealthy life.

For those who attended Session 1, I hope you enjoyed the talk. We’d like to invite you to Session 2: The Person I Like. Session 1 debunked the right person myth. Session 2 will be focusing on how to become the right person.

On Finding True Love

finding-true-love-with-tarotPhoto from

Sometimes you don’t know what you’re missing until you find it.

Before I met Christ, I used to think I was ok. I was basically a good girl who did well in school and only broke a few rules. Being a very goal oriented person, I tried to find fulfillment and happiness in achievement. But no matter what I did, there always seemed to be something missing. Coming from a Roman Catholic family, I’ve known about Jesus since I was young, but I’ve never really had a personal relationship with him. I felt like God was someone you praised and admired from afar.

Then a friend of mine invited me to a Christian church. I was still a college student in Silliman University then. That was when I first had an encounter with Christ. I was amazed by how happy they all seemed, how fulfilled.

Time is God’s paintbrush as he paints his masterpiece in the hearts of humanity.

-Ravi Zacharias

I had no idea then, but God was already painting his masterpiece in my heart. My personal relationship with God didn’t happen in an instant.

Like most relationships, it blossomed through time. My first impression of Christianity, was wow, they have nice music here. They had a full band and all the musicians from the drummer to the bassist to the singer were so good. I’ve always loved music and the excellent playing of that church’s music team was what kept me coming back. I became friends with band and eventually joined the music team. I guess you could say, music lead me to God. When I accepted Christ in my life as Lord and Savior, it was only then that I realized what I was missing. The joy I felt in having a relationship with Christ eclipsed everything else in my life.

After I graduated college, I was in a limbo as to what I really wanted to do with my life. I tried a lot of things. Eventually, God lead me to real estate and together with my partners, we founded Truly Wealthy Realty. At the time, I didn’t have a church here so without meaning to, I started to lose my way. I began to focus again on trying to achieve fulfillment thru worldly success: Through winning Toastmaster contests, closing deals and making money. And yes, I achieved these things. But the happiness was not only shallow, it was fleeting. I was like a dog running after its own tail – chasing dream after dream with no end in sight. No achievement, no matter how lofty, seemed to be enough to make me happy. Then a friend of mine, Eddie, invited me to CCF. It was here that I found the Lord again. I started attending Dgroup and eventually, with the encouragement of my Dgroup leader, I started to lead my own Dgroup.

I remember what Ate Mel Santos told me, “Lex, start leading. You’re ready. Trust me, leading your own Dgroup is more fulfilling than closing deals.”

You know what, she was wrong. It doesn’t even come close. Through being part of a Dgroup and leading my own dgroup, I regained my balance. I started to focus on what is truly important – Jesus Christ.

Sometimes you don’t know what you’re missing until you find it.

Being a Christian all these years has made me realize 3 things:

First, a Christian cannot be a lone ranger. We need each other to grow in Christ. Even super heroes have their own groups. Justice league, Fantastic 4, even Batman had Robin. Superman had Louis Lane. We need the intimacy, accountability and the emotional support of our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. That is why it is crucial to be part of a Dgroup. When you’re part of a discipleship group, you can watch out for each other and help one another during tough times.

Second, we need to share the gospel and disciple others. As believers, we need to bring as many people to Christ as we possibly can. It is both our burden and privilege. It was only when I started discipling others that I became more committed to honoring and obeying God. A teacher must practice what he preaches. Being a discipler has allowed my faith to mature in ways I could never have thought possible. Many are content to accept Christ as savior but not as Lord. But God calls us not to be timid disciples but bold witnesses. That is the great commission. That is our mission.

Third, God + 0 = more than enough. Everything else is just a bonus. A great career, financial security, a Godly husband… These are all just bonuses. I’m not defined by what I achieve, the amount of wealth I own or in having the ideal husband, but in Christ Jesus alone. He is my rock and my salvation. And in Him, I will not be shaken.

Sometimes you don’t know what you’re missing until you find it.

I have found my identity in Christ-and never again am I letting go.

This is love, in the highest and truest form, in every sense of the word.

May you find Christ like I did and live a truly wealthy life.

Don’t Doubt, Trust God

Photo from

This was the message on the first ever SNL (Saturday Night Life) for this year. We say we trust God, but when problems arise, doubt comes rushing in like a tide of water in a sinking ship. I’m sometimes guilty of this. I try as much as possible not to worry, but there are times that I still do.

For the past week, I’ve been worried about this deal I was working on with one of my partners in Truly Wealthy. I was set to close this deal on Monday. The buyer was already ready with his payment and the attorney had already been scheduled. Everything was already set. Yet, the seller was refusing to hand over some documents because he was having last minute doubts.

The message at SNL reminded me that God has been so amazing to me since the beginning. He has always come through. How could I let something like this sway me? This is nothing compared to the grace He has showed me many times in the past.

How could I forget all that he has done for me? But I’m like that. Yes. I’m forgetful. Just like the Israelites who ended up wandering in the desert for 40 years. It took them a long time to reach the promised land because they grumbled, complained and doubted God. They forgot that God led them out of Egypt, that He saved them from the Egyptians, that He parted the Red Sea for them. Despite God’s amazing grace in my life, I often forget what he has done and what he can do.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him and He will make your path straigt.

-Proverbs 3:5-6

So I prayed. Fervently. A night before the deal, I talked to my client and explained the whole process. By God’s grace, he understood and agreed to hand over the needed documents. Just in time, too! I stayed up till dawn finalizing all the paper work. We were able to close the deal. I was even able to share the gospel to my client over lunch after.

glass overflowing with water

The truth is, there will always be times when trials and problems come our way. We have a choice – we can either doubt Him or Trust Him. When we choose to trust Him, our faith grows a little every time. We can allow each moment in our lives to increase our faith in him.

Don’t allow unbelief and doubt to blind you to the truth. Just like a glass filled with impure water, you can let his grace overflow in you to displace all sin, doubt and uncertainty.

Don’t doubt. Renew yourself in the Lord.

When times get tough, remember the moments that God intervened on your behalf. When He saved you from a precarious situation, when He sent people to rescue you, when He drew you out from the darkness and into the light. Remember your Red Sea moments with Him.

Trust Him.

Go live a Truly Wealthy life.

CCF VisMin Exalt Training 2015

exalt training + ccf cdo 6

Just today, CCF concluded its Exalt Training for Vismin 2015. The training started on Friday night (5:30-9pm) and went on till Saturday (8am – 4pm). This was attended by all CCF churches (Hubs, satellite and community churches) in the Visayas and Mindanao area namely – Cagayan de Oro, Malaybalay, Manolo Fortich, Cebu, Ozamis and Dipolog. The trainers came all the way from CCF Main in Manila just to share their knowledge on how to improve our Sunday worship experience.

exalt training + ccf cdo 4

Exalt is composed mainly of 3 teams:

  • Music Team – singers, prompters, instrumentalists
  • Tech Team (Production) – audio visuals, lights and sounds
  • Host Team – ushers

exalt training + ccf cdo 5

Exalts main objectives are:

  1. To produce excellent worship experience
  2. To help CCF achieve its 2020 vision
  3. To support CCF satellites in their Exalt-related requirements

All three teams are tied together by one common goal – to Honor God. And so it is vital that these teams work together seamlessly, as one. We are after all, many parts of one body.

exalt training + ccf cdo 10

According to Pastor Glenn, worship begins in the parking lot. When we usher people in joyfully to church, that’s already a form of worship. When we play our instrument to glorify God, that’s worship. When we adjust the audios so that everything flows together smoothly, that’s worship. It doesn’t matter what you do. God wants your heart. If in your heart, you are worshipping God, then, that’s enough.

exalt training + ccf cdo 2

The first day consisted more of an overview of Exalt and what to expect the following day. On the second day, we were divided according to our tracks. All ushers, tech people, keyboardists, singers, rhythm guitarists, bassists and drummers were grouped together. Even though I was the only girl in guitar training, I still had fun and learned a lot. The training ended with a demo on what we had learned from the training.

exalt training + ccf cdoThe Guitar Instrumentalists from all over CCF VisMin

The main thing I learned from our session is this: Heart and skill must go together.

It’s important to keep on improving your skill so you can give God your all because He is an excellent God and He deserves your best. At the same time, it’s also vital to constantly check your heart to make sure it’s in the right place. The entire congregation is part of the music team – they’re the choir. Our main goal as musicians is to lead people to worship. The bottom line is to give all honor and glory to the audience of One.

The quality of a person’s life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen field of endeavor.

-Vince Lombardi

exalt training + ccf cdo 3

All in all, I was really blessed by the whole experience.

First, I got to meet people from other CCF churches and made new friends. I even got to meet two of my high school classmates who were also both serving in the music team.

Second, I learned a lot of new things from our amazing trainers. All of them were really excellent in their chosen ministry. As a musician, I was inspired and encouraged by their dedication to excellence. Even though they were already great musicians they continually reminded us the significance of practice, the value of teachability and the importance of having an open heart.

Third, I was encouraged and uplifted by the whole experience. Serving God is truly a privilege. Kudos to everyone who made this event possible – the trainers, organizers and participants. It has been such a blessing!

I have known no greater joy than serving God and pointing people to Jesus. I hope you can experience this joy as well.

Try Jesus. You wont regret it.

Let Go and Let God

There is true freedom in surrender.

Too often in life we are tempted to want to take control of everything, especially for those who are “doers” like I am. I am the type of person who can’t sit still for an extended period of time (unless I’m reading a book). I always want to move around and do something.

One thing God has taught me this past year is to be “still and know that He is God.” There are times when the best thing to do is nothing. For some, doing nothing may be easy. But for me, that’s a challenge. Waiting and doing nothing does not come easy to me because when a situation arises, I immediately want to do something about it.

It was only last year when I realized that waiting is not only about being patient, it’s about being faithful. God will reveal to you his perfect plans in His own time – and not before that.

We are here not to be successful but to be faithful. And if success comes with your faith, then praise God. – Mother Theresa

I’d just finished reading a book entitled Unstoppable – The Incredible Power of Faith in Action by best-selling author and speaker, Nick Vujicic. Nick was born without limbs. And yet that did not stop him by living life to the fullest and sharing God’s amazing love. I look at Nick and marvel at God’s incredible grace, at how He has used this man to inspire millions of people around the world to embrace life and accept Jesus. There are many people who have a complete set of limbs yet they wallow in self-pity and focus only on themselves. I look at Nick and am amazed at how much he has done for others. However, he wasn’t always this way. There was a time in his life when he tried to commit suicide because he didn’t want to burden his parents anymore. It was only when Nick finally let go of his doubts and insecurities that he started being able to inspire people and make a difference. God used an imperfect man (a man without limbs!) to fulfill His perfect plan.

Photo from

Sometimes we focus too much on ourselves that we fail to see God’s amazing plan for us. Had Nick focused on his “disability” he wouldn’t be the amazing author and evangelist he is today.

When I started Truly Wealthy Realty with my partners three years ago, I was focused solely on becoming a successful real estate broker. But when I started attending bible study and church service at CCF, I realized that there are things that are more rewarding than financial success. Of course, I don’t discount that. I still fully intend to be financially successful, but that desire has now come second to serving God. He will always be first with me. The moment I decided to let go and let God, tons of blessings seemed to pour into my life. Truly Wealthy got an exclusive contract with a developer to market a project in Iligan, I became Top Broker of the year for 2014 and this year, I’m finally starting my own bible study group together with a good friend from church.

I’ve never been more inspired and in love with God as I am today.

God + 0 = more than enough

God is more than enough for me and all I will ever need. Everything else is just a bonus.

What about you?

Do you feel like you are always striving to achieve an ever-elusive goal? Do you feel like you’ve been working hard but nothing is coming out of it?

Action is important. But there comes a time, when we have done all we can, that we sit back and let God move. The ability to let go and let God, allows our faith to grow. We need to fully trust in His plans for us for they will always be good, pleasing and PERFECT.

Let go and let God.

Go live a Truly Wealthy life.

How Do You Celebrate Christmas?

Photo from

Last night our bible study group at CCF (we call it DGroup), celebrated our Christmas party. There was food, games, gifts and of course, a message from our DGroup Leader, Kuya Mel Santos. What I like about Kuya Mel is that he makes things so simple I can easily get his point.

He started with the question, “How do you celebrate Christmas?”

We all celebrate Christmas in different ways. Some travel. Some celebrate it with a simple dinner. Some go on out-reach programs to share their blessings with the less fortunate.

For our family, we celebrate it by going to church together and then gathering for Noche Buena at our ancestral house. Christmas with us is often noisy and chaotic as most of my cousins are boys. Yep. I’ve been surrounded by testosterone all my life.

Christmas has always been my favorite season. It seems people are more giving and happier during this time of the year. Plus, I can’t deny that I love going to all the Christmas parties that crop up during December. Since I have many groups of friends, I get to go to a lot of parties ^_^

We often get caught in a whirl of Christmas activity that we forget what Christmas really is about. This Season is not just about going to parties, gift shopping and socializing. It’s about giving back to Jesus who has given us so much us. When I think about what Christ has done for us on the cross, I become overwhelmed, because I know that nothing I do can ever compare to what He has done for me.

What can you give back to Jesus this 2014?

Is it your body? You can start taking better care of your health because, after all, your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.

Is it your decisions? You can involve God in all your decisions so you can proceed with wisdom.

Is it your time? You can spend more time at church serving God and others.

As for me, it’s my attitude. Sometimes I give in to my quick temper. Now, I try to be more patient and to have a good attitude no matter what the circumstance. Contrary to what most of you may think, I’m not perfect (lol). I have many faults, and I still sin a lot >.<. That’s why I need God in my life (Where would I be without him?). And this Christmas 2014, that’s what I want to give Him.

What about you? What can you give to Jesus this Christmas?
